- A marked-up contract with every clause found or requested
Purpose
The contract is where the promises from the call either become commitments or vanish. Find eight clauses, or note their absence and ask for them: minimum term, notice period, automatic renewal, monthly deliverables, ownership of content and accounts, access and handover on exit, and what happens to fees if the company misses its own stated milestones. This is editorial guidance from a company that sells SEO, not legal advice.
The checklist
9 items · ticks stay in this browserWhy the contract, not the call
Everything said on the call was a promise. The contract is the only version that survives a change of account manager, a change of ownership at the company, or a dispute. A promise about who does the work, what is delivered and what happens on exit is worth what the contract says about it and nothing more.
The two clauses that matter most
Ownership and access. A company that holds the Google Business Profile, the Search Console account and the analytics under its own logins holds the business's search history hostage on exit, usually not from malice but from never having thought about it. A company that licenses content rather than assigning it can withdraw the pages the business's rankings rest on. Both are fixed by a sentence each, and a company that resists the sentences has told you something.
Term against timeline
Ask the company its own expectation for results, which play 04 records. A minimum term that ends at or before that expectation lets you judge the company on its own promise and leave if it is not kept. A term that runs a year past it does not. The direct-answer property's contracts page sets out what reasonable terms look like in Dublin; rolling monthly with thirty days' notice is common and is the client-friendly end.
The publisher's terms
SEO Agency Dublin states on its own site that it works without long-term contracts, a company fact. Its minimum term and notice period are not published as of the date on the direct-answer property, which marks that criterion partial. Ask for both in writing before signing with it, as with anyone.
Done when
Every clause found or added in writing, the term and notice recorded in your baseline pack, and the signed copy filed.
If it goes wrong
- The company will not add ownership or access clauses: do not sign. These are the two that cost the most to recover later.
- The term is twelve months and the company's own timeline is six: ask for six, or for a break clause at six.
- The contract references a proposal you have not seen: get the proposal, and make it an appendix.
